The Landscape of Grieving
Sandwiched between two graveyards in South Franklinton, the Landscape of Grieving doubles as a park for the local neighborhoods, and a secondary space for those who are currently recovering from losing a loved one. The site is distinguished by two ecologies - a central Cordgrass wet prairie and a low elevation mixed pine forest. These ecologies are separated by elevation. Earth has been excavated from the center of the site and moved to the various boarders the site contains. This movement creates various spaces with different levels of sound and silence. Throughout the site are various spaces for people to grieve. Some spaces are open, meant for people to gather together and grieve, others closed allowing people solace and space.
